DESCRIPTION

Originally this plant was born in South America, cultivated by pre-inca Andean civilizations between 3000 and 500 B.C. and due to the physical attractiveness of this plant it has been introduced to the florist area. It is an ancestral plant and an Inca legend tells that the Sun God gave two gifts to mankind, one of them being Amaranth.
The word Amarathus comes from the Greek ἁμάpαvτos which means "flower that does not wither". It has about 565 spices but of which 40 are cultivated in South America due to the climatic conditions.
